Explaining why time blocking is a huge factor in success in real estate.

Time management is a huge factor in success in the real estate business. One of the most important things is to actually mark what you need to do on your calendar so you stay on schedule.

Make sure to time-block your entire day because if you’re new to this, you need to get a set schedule—even if that means waking up in the morning, doing your workout, making breakfast, and getting the kids ready. Get in the habit of time blocking, even if you don’t have your business fully up and running.

All the greats are doing this in the real estate business. This is what’s called the perfect schedule. Get to where you’re getting up in the morning even if you don’t have a client; there are still things to do. There are plenty of things you could be doing with your time, like building your social media and loading your sphere into a database. Really, it just comes down to more than just showing a buyer a home and waiting for your phone to ring.

“Get in the habit of time blocking, even if you don’t have your business fully up and running.”

If a client calls you and says, “Hey, let’s set up an appointment today at 3 p.m.,” time blocking ensures you’re getting everybody on the schedule, you’re making your phone calls, and you’re talking to the right people at the right time with no overlap. Repetition is key here because the more you stay disciplined in your schedule, the more you get in tune with the tasks. Your career will blossom from doing that over time.

It takes time to get it all set up. Discipline is probably the hardest thing with the calendar because it’s so easy to get sidetracked from your duties and tasks on there. The calendar really keeps you in check. One of the great things we have with our team here is between myself and the staff at the John Bolos Group, we have the ability to work and train agents to help them stay disciplined and to keep that perfect schedule.
